Biography

Fajar Hirawan, Ph.D.

Dr. Fajar earned a PhD in Economics from the School of Economics at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Sydney, Australia. He completed his master’s degree in Development Studies at the Faculty of Economics, University of Rome “La Sapienza,” Italy, and his bachelor’s degree in Economics at the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia. Before joining the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (FEB UIII), he has been serving as a Researcher at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Indonesia, the prominent think tank in Indonesia and the Southeast Asia-Pacific region, since 2006. His research mainly focuses on how to improve the economy in the global world, including related to the issue of food security, international trade, creative/digital economy, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), rural-urban poverty, and any issues in development economics. His works appear in various publications in the form of Op-ed articles, commentaries, research reports, as well as national and international journals, including Global Solutions Journal, Indonesian Quarterly, Analisis CSIS, Strategic Review Commentary, CSIS Commentaries, Media Indonesia, and China Daily.
